Laguna Niguel's three largest civic holiday events this year fall within eight days, and all three are on Crown Valley Parkway. The Christmas Tree Lighting is at City Hall on Saturday, December 5. The Menorah Lighting is at the same address the next evening. The Holiday Parade comes down the parkway the following Saturday, December 12. For those two weekends, the parkway between City Hall and Crown Valley Park works as the city's holiday venue. How you get there and where you leave the car matter as much as the dates.
The rest of December is spread out at Sea Country on Aliso Creek Road, the skate park on Alicia Parkway and the Laguna Niguel Branch library. Those events are smaller, and three of the five run in the early afternoon at Sea Country. Plan the two Crown Valley weekends first, then fit the rest around them.
Two weekends on one stretch of road
Here is the cluster as it appears on the City of Laguna Niguel's December 2026 calendar:
| Date | Event | Time | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday, Dec. 5 | Christmas Tree Lighting | 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. | City Hall, 30111 Crown Valley Parkway |
| Sunday, Dec. 6 | Menorah Lighting | 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. | City Hall, 30111 Crown Valley Parkway |
| Saturday, Dec. 12 | Holiday Parade | 10 a.m. to noon | Crown Valley Parkway between Nueva Vista and Central Park Drive |
Two of the three are at the same street address on back-to-back evenings, and both start at 4:30. The following Saturday, the parade uses the same parkway. The other address to know is Crown Valley Park at 29751 Crown Valley Parkway, which serves as the shuttle lot for the tree lighting.
December 5: park at Crown Valley Park and ride to City Hall
The tree lighting is the busiest evening of the cluster. Its Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce listing includes cookie decorating, holiday crafts, games, live entertainment and time with Santa. The tree is lit at 5 p.m., and admission is free.
The lighting is earlier this year. In 2025 the event ran from 5 to 8 p.m., and the tree was lit at 5:30. The 2026 event runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the tree is lit at 5. If you planned around last year's timing, a 5:15 arrival would have given you a few minutes to spare before the lighting. This year it puts you there after the lights are already on.
A free shuttle runs from Crown Valley Park to City Hall from 4:30 to 8 p.m. It starts when the event opens and keeps running half an hour after the program ends at 7:30. That leaves time for one more round of cookie decorating without worrying about the last ride back. If your goal is the 5 p.m. lighting itself, leave yourself time to park at Crown Valley Park, wait for a shuttle and make the short ride before five.

December 6: City Hall again the next evening
The next afternoon, City Hall hosts the free Menorah Lighting, presented with the Chabad Jewish Center of Laguna Niguel. It runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and includes live entertainment, activities, crafts, dreidels and Chanukah treats.
It starts at the same time and place as the tree lighting but ends an hour earlier. If you went to City Hall on Saturday, you already know the route and the drop-off. Because the two events fall on consecutive days, the first weekend of December centers on a single block of Crown Valley Parkway, and the following Saturday brings the parade along the same road.
December 12: the parade route ends at Central Park Drive this year
The Holiday Parade runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 12. The city lists the 2026 route as Crown Valley Parkway between Nueva Vista and Central Park Drive. The 2025 listing described a route between Nueva Vista and Crown Valley Park, so the end point is different this year. If you have watched from the same spot near the park in past years, check the 2026 route before you set out chairs.
The parade lineup is already set. The city's October 15 announcement closed entries on November 1. Volunteers for parade day have a required meeting at Crown Valley Community Center on December 3, according to the city's 2026 volunteer information sheet.
Last year's parade listing shows how much road a two-hour parade takes up. In 2025, Crown Valley Parkway was closed between Moulton and Niguel Road from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on parade day, and portions of Nueva Vista and La Paz were also closed. Because of limited parking, the city ran a free shuttle from the Chet Holifield Federal Building, with parking and pickup reached from Alicia Parkway. Spectators were invited to bring chairs, and the parade ran rain or shine unless conditions were unsafe.
Those are 2025 arrangements, and the 2026 route has a different end point. Even so, last year the road was closed for nine hours to stage a two-hour event. If you live along Crown Valley between Moulton and Niguel, or you use that stretch for Saturday errands, plan the morning of December 12 around the closure. The 2026 parade listing is the place to confirm this year's closures and shuttle before you go.
Why Laguna Niguel Regional Park isn't on the holiday calendar
Laguna Niguel Regional Park is one place you might expect to host part of the season, and it doesn't this year. According to OC Parks, construction on Moulton Niguel Water District's Regional Force Main Replacement Project is underway through spring 2027, with temporary closures in parts of the park. Shelter reservations and permits for vendors and special events won't be issued during construction, and shelters are first-come, first-served.
The city's large holiday gatherings stay at City Hall and along the parkway, so the closure doesn't move any of them. It does affect the smaller things that usually happen at a park this time of year. A family that hoped to book a regional park shelter for a holiday picnic can't reserve one until the project wraps up. Crown Valley Park and the community centers remain the city's gathering places until then.
Off the parkway for the rest of the month
The other December events are away from Crown Valley Parkway. In date order:
- Monday, December 7, 1 to 2 p.m. A pajama-party social hour at Sea Country Senior & Community Center, 24602 Aliso Creek Road.
- Thursday, December 10, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Carolers & Crafts at the Laguna Niguel Branch of OC Public Libraries. The Lil' Dickens Carolers perform, families make hands-on holiday crafts, and all ages are welcome.
- Friday, December 11, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sea Country Cinema screens Home Alone at Sea Country Senior & Community Center.
- Friday, December 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m. A Winter Formal at Sea Country Senior & Community Center.
- Saturday, December 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Ugly Sweater Skate Jam at Laguna Niguel Skate and Soccer Park, 27745 Alicia Parkway.
The first three fall in the week between the two Crown Valley weekends. December 10 and 11 fall on the Thursday and Friday before the parade. The Skate Jam on December 19 is the only large evening event after the parade and the last city event on the December calendar.
The local shopping centers have changed in time for the season too. The City of Laguna Niguel's October 2026 business newsletter lists the expanded Trader Joe's at 32391 Golden Lantern, Suite E, in Ocean Ranch as open. The store is now 14,220 square feet, up from the 8,550-square-foot store it replaced. The same newsletter lists Color Me Mine as open at 28221 Greenfield Drive, Suite C, in Center at Rancho Niguel after its move from Mission Viejo. Gina's Pizza at 28051 Greenfield Drive, Suite B, also in Center at Rancho Niguel, and Stevie Sister at 23886 Aliso Creek Road in Aliso Village were both listed as coming soon.
A short December plan
- Dec. 5: Park at Crown Valley Park, take the shuttle that starts at 4:30, and be at City Hall before the 5 p.m. lighting.
- Dec. 6: Menorah Lighting at City Hall, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Dec. 10 and 11: Carolers at the library on Thursday evening and Home Alone at Sea Country on Friday afternoon.
- Dec. 12: Parade from 10 a.m. to noon between Nueva Vista and Central Park Drive. Plan around road closures that may start well before the first float, as they did in 2025.
- Dec. 19: Ugly sweaters at the skate park on Alicia Parkway.
